Oakland Scientific Facility Building Feasibility Study

JCA, lead a project team of engineers and consultants to conduct a building feasibility study pursuant to the purchase of the Oakland Scientific Facility (OSF) by the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP).
The existing structure is a four-story building with a basement and a one-story addition. The original building is approximately 60,000 square feet and the addition is approximately 10,000 square feet in size. The building was seismically retrofitted and entirely renovated, in 2000. As part of the 2000 renovation, a one-story addition on the south side of building and a steel structural platform were also constructed on top of the existing roof for a mechanical air handling unit. The third and fourth floors went through and interior renovations for UCOP tenants in 2001.
